Awakening Day 4

It’s Day 4 of the AWAKENING fast & my pains are subsiding. Very cool…
In John 4 we read of Jesus’ encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well. I love this story for a couple reasons:
First of all we learn that Jesus hangs out with outcasts. If you were to put a list together; rating the “Who’s Who” in Jesus’ time, you would find this woman at the bottom of the list. She may not have even made the list; except maybe the list of “people you ‘avoid” list! “Now Jesus”, I can hear the disciples say, “You just don’t talk with a woman in public, certainly not one that has been married five times, and on top of that, she is a Samaritan! Jesus, what are you thinking?”
Secondly, Jesus tells the disciples, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.” He hasn’t found anything to eat while the disciples are gone, all he has done is share God with this woman. He has simply been obedient to God’s call on His life. His hunger, mysteriously disappears. It seems that when we think less often of ourselves and make it a priority to demonstrate God’s love & OBEY, the Father is going to meet our needs. Even more than what we can imagine.
Lastly, Jesus has no problem drawing a crowd. That is what genuine love is going to do. People can’t resist being in an environment of love and acceptance. Look, they even begged Jesus to stay longer- “then many more believed in him.” Far cry from how we can sometimes be. Many times we want people to change before the give themselves to Christ. I found this true in my life; recently!
He says, “Come as you are and I will change you.”
How have you encountered Christ’s love?

I am a normal guy (some may not think so), I’m married, two kids, a dog, a cat and a fish. I have owned a station wagon and a minivan (I can’t believe I just admitted that!) My wife still takes my breath away and I want nothing more from this life than to make Jesus famous and to hear him say, “Well done good and faithful servant.”
